Fun Transport Options for Golfers

Let’s face it, golf bags are big, and once you’ve added in a trolley, shoes, umbrella and so on, having the right car can be key. Naturally, if money is no object, a big SUV makes light work of all those clubs and accoutrements… but not everyone has the finances, driveway or interest to own a huge car. So, does this mean revolving your whole automotive strategy around your hobby? Not necessarily; if your club has a trolley shed, then you might be able pull up on a superbike, or even propelled by a single horse’s power! Failing that, small / ‘pencil’ bags can minimise the square footage required, and we’ve seen evidence of an array of city cars and 2-seaters accommodating a lightweight bag of clubs. We were also particularly inspired by seeing a father and child cycling from the 18th, with dad carrying their slim joint bag on his back!

But however you get to the course, you’re still going to have to lug your clubs around for 4 hours… unless you plan to pay through the nose to hire a buggy, right? Well not necessarily! Perhaps if you live close enough by, there’s a solution that can take you and your clubs straight to the first tee, around the course, and home again! Now of course, we wouldn’t possibly suggest you buy a regular golf buggy and park it on your front lawn… what would the neighbours think?! Plus, you’d have the faff of making it road legal, with mirrors, lights, horn, seat belt and so on. But what about, if we told you, you could have a road legal golf buggy, designed to look like a Hummer supertruck sat on your drive? House prices in your area would presumably skyrocket, and we can’t imagine any of the cronies down at the club would have anything to say about it!

Well feast your eyes on the ‘Hustler’, which is soon being launched by Fairway EV in Shropshire, and comes with alloys, golf bag attachment, and all the key safety features for use on the road.

Fancy something a little less in your face? How about another vehicle via Fairway EV, the Daytona? Inspired by the classic styling of the American hot rod, the Daytona offers sports wheels, chrome roll bars and a digital dash, along with seat belts, lights and wing mirrors for use on the road.

But maybe you prefer 2 wheels to 4? Then you may soon be in luck! Montana-based Finn Scooters are taking the golf world by storm, with their funky golf e-bikes! Oozing both style and practicality, Finns are available in 8 colours, and with an endless range of bags, coolers, seat designs and other accessories, you’re sure to break the mould as you pull up at the first tee on Captain’s Day riding one of these!

Now, we know what you’re thinking… ‘there’s no chance these will be allowed on my course!’ But why not? They weigh just 92lbs, which is roughly 10% of a typical golf buggy. What’s more, Finn also cleverly point out the benefits in supporting ‘ready golf’, and there’s little doubt that groups on these won’t be holding anyone up! Sadly though, unless you’re US based (or in Canada, where they’re available for hire at some courses), Finn won’t take your £2.75k. They’re sadly not road legal either. But hopefully one day soon, they might be available in the UK, and we might find a legal route to the course, so we can pootle between shots on one of these rascals… we live in hope!
